G67 2015/16: Bulldogs vs Ottawa

The Hamilton Bulldogs visit Ottawa’s TD Place to take on the 67s for the sixth game in their season series. Hamilton’s record against Ottawa thus far is 2-3-0, with 11 goals for, 20 goals against, a pretty dreadful -9 goals differential thanks to the 67s drubbings in of the Bulldogs in the first quarter of the season. Hamilton had a very successful weekend against the Sudbury Wolves and Niagara IceDogs winning both games, and had a three days strong practices this week before hitting the road last night. The margin for error is zero this weekend, they need 100% buy in from every player to keep their playoff hopes alive.

If you can dodge a wrench

George Burnett was on the radio Wednesday speaking to TSN 1150’s Jim Tatti (listen here) about the team’s chances this weekend. He may have sugarcoated his assessment of the situation a tiny bit. “We’ve put ourselves in a situation to be playing meaningful games in the last weekend of the season, so we may need a little help as Oshawa’s played very well over the last few weeks”. This was before Oshawa squeaked through Mississauga with an overtime win, forcing the Bulldogs into a do-or-die situation. Hamilton needs to win tonight and tomorrow. Kingston and Ottawa need regulation wins against Oshawa tonight and Sunday. If these perfect conditions match up, we’ll have the play-in game on Tuesday. It’s a beautiful story if it happens, and while no one has them entirely written off at this point, they are indeed the OHL underdogs right now.
