Bulldogs Banter Episode 2
In Episode 2 of Bulldogs Banter, a Hamilton Bulldogs focused podcast, Matt Holmes, Luke Vermeer and I began our preliminary breakdown of the OHL Priority Selection which takes place on April 9th. This weekend in Oshawa is the prospects combine, where young midget players will gather to be tested and interviewed by the OHL brass. Hamilton picks 4th, and we volley a few names around, but don’t get into anything too dense with regards to analysis. Our first draft episode is focused more on what we think Hamilton needs, and where a player may be able to slot into the roster come October.
We also talk a little about Matthew Strome being announced the rookie of the month for March. Matt was arguably the most consistent rookie in the back half of the season, and getting the nod from the league at the end of the year bodes well for his ability to elevate his game. Could be looking at a potential first round draft pick in June 2017 if everything pans out the way Hamilton fans are hoping.
Bulldogs Banter Episode 2 also features a segment where the crew interviews MacKenzie Entwistle (@5twisty5). Entwistle wrapped up his OHL rookie season two weeks ago, and gave us a reflection of his first year in Hamilton. Entwistle described what the process was like to be drafted into the OHL. He has a unique perspective, and is a very well spoken young man for a 16 year old, give it a list here:
