The Hamilton Bulldogs Acquire TJ Fergus
The Hamilton Bulldogs have sent the Erie Otters a 3rd round draft pick in 2018, a conditional 5th round draft pick in 2020 and a conditional 6th round draft pick in 2020 in exchange for overage defender TJ Fergus.

It is clear that Fergus has been added to bring valuable experience in the post season. He had a career year last season, hopefully he can continue to enhance his game.
“He took massive steps forward this year in his own end, paired with Darren Raddysh. He’s average sized, but he makes a great first pass and, as mentioned, has really improved his awareness and anticipation in the defensive end.” – Brock Otten, OHL Prospects (Source)
Although undrafted, Fergus attended the Anaheim Ducks development camp in the past. An interesting connection to the Bulldogs organization is that his surprising development early in his OHL career enabled the Otters to trade away Jesse Saban to the Belleville Bulls. Saban was a 2nd round pick in the 2013 OHL Draft, where Fergus was selected 6 rounds later.
Hard to say where he ends up on the depth chart. Considering he was a top pairing defender on the OHL Championship team last season, he’ll likely start off where he left off. Coach Gruden and defensive Coach Matos have the wonderful problem of, again, having plenty of depth on the blueline to choose from.
